STREETS, in proud partnership with Active Luton, Be Active, and Sport England, is delivering a free 12-week Chair Aerobics Programme across Luton to support the health and wellbeing of older adults. Hosted in trusted faith centres, community venues, and GP-linked settings, this initiative brings movement, connection, and joy directly to the heart of our diverse neighbourhoods.
Each chair aerobics session is delivered by a qualified instructor and supported by trained community volunteers, ensuring continuity beyond the initial 12 weeks. As a structured falls prevention exercise programme, it provides low-impact exercise for mobility, strength, and balance—reducing the risk of hospital admissions and supporting ageing well. This model builds long-term health capacity within local communities and aligns with NHS priorities around preventative care, physical activity, and social prescribing.
