Using Sport to Improve Health and Create Opportunities

A Community Model Using Sport to Drive Behaviour Change, Improve Health, and Reduce Inequalities

About STREETS

STREETS is a not-for-profit social impact organisation that uses sport and physical activity as an entry point to engage communities, build trust, and create lasting change.

Founded in Luton and now expanding across the UK and beyond, STREETS works with underrepresented communities to improve health, reduce inequalities, and create pathways into education, employment, and positive life outcomes.

At its core, STREETS is not just a programme — it is a structured community hub model that operates as a system for engagement, behaviour change, and long-term progression. Delivery takes place within trusted environments such as schools, faith settings, community venues, and health systems, ensuring accessibility and relevance across diverse populations.

How STREETS Works:

Our approach is simple, structured, and scalable:

Engage – Use sport and physical activity to reach people where they are
Build Trust – Deliver in familiar, culturally relevant community settings

Support Behaviour Change – Improve health, wellbeing, and everyday habits through structured interventions
Create Pathways – Connect individuals to education, training, employment, and leadership opportunities

This model enables STREETS to operate across both prevention and targeted intervention, supporting individuals at different stages of need.

What We Deliver:

We design and deliver practical, high-impact programmes that respond directly to community need, including:

  • Youth early intervention (e.g. VR-led mentoring and behaviour programmes)
  • Health and wellbeing interventions (e.g. 12-week Chair Aerobics delivered through Primary Care Networks)
  • Women and girls’ multi-sport engagement
  • Refugee integration through sport and ESOL support
  • Holiday provision and food support programmes (HAF)
  • Workforce development and employability pathways

Each programme forms part of a wider model designed to create measurable outcomes and long-term impact.

Partnership & Delivery:

We work in partnership with:

  • Local authorities
  • NHS and Primary Care Networks
  • National Governing Bodies of Sport
  • Schools and education providers
  • Faith settings and community organisations

Through these partnerships, STREETS creates joined-up delivery across health, education, and community systems, strengthening both reach and impact.

Our Mission:

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), STREETS exists to embed health, equality, and opportunity into everyday community life.

By combining sport, education, and cross-sector collaboration, we support long-term personal development, stronger communities, and more sustainable local systems.

What Drives Us:

Our work is shaped by a clear set of values:

Community-Centric – Built with and for the communities we serve
Inclusivity – Open and accessible to all
Sustainability – Designed for long-term impact
Integrity – Transparent and accountable delivery
Collaboration – Strong partnerships drive better outcomes
Innovation – Using technology and creativity to engage
Empowerment – Supporting people to lead their own development
Passion – A commitment to meaningful social change

A Model That Reinvests in Communities:

As a not-for-profit organisation, STREETS reinvests all resources into delivery, ensuring that every programme contributes directly to long-term community impact and sustainability.
